WordPress Development
Custom WordPress sites and plugins — properly built, properly secured, properly hosted.
WordPress powers a third of the web for good reason — it's flexible, content-manageable, and has a massive ecosystem. But most WordPress sites are built with off-the-shelf themes and plugin stacks that create performance, security, and maintenance problems. We build WordPress properly: custom themes, minimal plugins, and security-first configuration.
Custom vs Off-the-Shelf Themes
Most WordPress sites we inherit run a purchased theme like Avada, Divi, or Astra that bloats the page with hundreds of kilobytes of CSS and JavaScript for features that aren't being used. These themes are also deeply coupled to their page builder, making content impossible to migrate when you outgrow the theme.
Custom theme development means building exactly the components your site needs: a clean HTML structure, a stylesheet built with your design system, and Gutenberg blocks that give your content editors the flexibility they need without opening up every layout decision. The result is a site that loads fast, looks exactly right, and is maintainable by any WordPress developer.
WordPress Security
WordPress sites are frequent targets because they're common and often poorly maintained. A default WordPress installation with an auto-updating theme and ten plugins has a large attack surface. We harden every WordPress install we build: remove file editing from the admin panel, obscure or move the login URL, configure a web application firewall (Wordfence or Cloudflare WAF), disable XML-RPC, enforce strong authentication, and implement daily backups with off-site storage.
We also minimize the plugin footprint aggressively. Every active plugin is a potential vulnerability — we implement features in custom plugin code where possible and remove anything that isn't actively serving a function.
WooCommerce Development
WooCommerce is a capable e-commerce platform with a rich ecosystem of payment gateways, shipping integrations, and store management tools. We build WooCommerce stores with custom product types, custom checkout flows, membership and subscription functionality, and integrations with external inventory and ERP systems.
For complex e-commerce requirements, we also evaluate whether WooCommerce is the right tool — sometimes Shopify, BigCommerce, or a fully custom solution better fits the use case. We make that call honestly.
